The names on a log are the ones you say when you’re standing there. German shepherd. Dog. Mammal.
Your view
On any log you can set a name aside, or add one that fits. Grove remembers that for you.

Grove uses Level 3 of the IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology — the functional group. Temperate grassland. Deciduous forest. A constructed wetland.
